  3. Damage to equipment belonging to the Cross Country Ski Activity Group during use on an official trip shall be the responsibility the person (sic) who checked it out. Rules outlined in the Club Equipment Policy shall apply.
  4. Labels on equipment identifying the items are necessary. Equipment that is not labeled with a number and the Hoofers name cannot be checkout (sic)
  5. Carrying racks should be used ONLY according to the directions. The user is responsible for all costs that are associated with repairing or replacing skis that are damaged from being carried on improperly attached rack. (sic)
  6. Novice skiers should not attempt to ski hills marked as difficult. Novice skiers should always ski with an experienced skier.
  7. Unfamiliarity with terrain calls for appropriate level of caution. (sic) When skiing down unfamiliar hills, skiers should keep their knees bent.
  8. Out of control skiing should be avoided. If a skier feels out of control when going downhill, they should slow themselves by using the snowplow technique, or by sitting on the ground.
  9. Avalanche danger should be considered when planning a trip. When skiing in areas where avalanche is a possibility, skiers should always carry avalanche beepers, shovels, and avalanche cord. Always travel in groups when an avalanche risk exists.
  10. Ski straps should be removed from around one's wrists when skiing in extremely deep snow and where avalanche is a possibility.
  11. Properly fitted equipment is a necessity. Consult a knowledgeable member if unsure about what sizes to use.
