Trip Policy

  1. This Policy has been established in a manner outlined in Section 2.11 of the Outing Club Bylaws on 5 July 1994, reworded from 5 February 1991 Executive Board meeting minutes, and approved by the Executive Board on 1 November 1994. This Policy may be amended by the Trip Leader Coordinator, and will become binding upon presentation to, and approval by, the Executive Board.
  2. Official Outing Club trips are classified into regular club trips and impromptu club trips. A regular club trip is one that is organized and announced at the latest regular Outing Club meeting preceeding the departure of the trip. An impromptu club trip is planned, organized, and departs between regular Outing Club meetings.
  3. A regular club trip must meet all of the following criteria:
    1. An announcement of the trip shall be made at at least one regular Outing Club meeting;
    2. a trip sign-up sheet or announcement for the trip shall be circulated at the regular Outing Club meeting and posted on the Outing Club bulletin board and in regular e-mail posting to the membership;
    3. all interested and qualified members shall have an opportunity to sign up for the trip;
    4. the trip leader shall be a current Outing Club member;
    5. minimum of three Outing Club members are needed for an official Outing Club trip;
    6. an itenerary of the trip shall be left at the deposit box at Park Street Circle, or in Hoofer Advisor's mail box.
  4. An impromptu club trip must meet all of the following criteria:
    1. a trip sign-up sheet or announcement for the trip shall be posted on the Outing Club bulletin board and posted on the e-mail distribution list;
    2. for boating trips the river leader needs to deposit a copy of the Water Safety Board's Hoofer River Trip Signout Sheet in the Water Safety Board Chair's mailbox;
    3. the trip leader shall be a current Outing Club member;
    4. minimum of three Outing Club members are needed for an official Outing Club trip;
    5. an itinerary of the trip shall be left at the deposit box at Park Street Circle, or in Hoofer Advisor's mail box.
