Broomball

A few people in the club are fanatical about broomball. While some of us sit and wonder what all the fuss about, they seem to have the time of their lives. So, for the unitiated, what is broomball? One Hoofer, Mike Schoenike, describes it this way: "Its like Hockey only you wear boots instead of skates, you use a modified broom (Duct Tape!) instead of a stick, and a ball instead of a puck." If that doesn't totally clear things up, take a look at the pictures below. During the winter months, there's a regular group of broomballers that play on Lake Mendota on weekend afternoons.

This photo was taken of broomball players on Lake Mendota in 1950. Possible Hoofers?
