Directions from Madison to the Pike River

General Info:

The Pike River is near Amberg, WI. The beginner stretch of the Pike is about 3 miles long, and a short stretch of intermediate rapids follows. The rapids on this river are Scrounge Canyon (Class II), Horseshoe Falls (Class II), and Yellow Bridge Falls (Class II-III).

Directions:

  • Leave Madison going NORTH on HW 151 (East Washington Ave). Drive about 65 miles on HW 151.
  • Exit on HW 26 NORTH towards Rosendale (Note: this is the second 26 exit -- be sure not to take the first 26 exit, which heads south). Take HW 26 about 25 miles north to HW 41.
  • Take the cloverleaf ramp onto HW 41 NORTH towards Green Bay.
  • About 20-30 miles north of Green Bay, HW 141 splits off. Take HW 141 NORTH for about 50 more miles.
  • About 10 miles north of Wausaukee, HW K appears on your right. Turn RIGHT (EAST) onto HW K.
  • Drive 5 miles to the bridge over the Pike river. That's the put-in. The entrance for the parking lot is the dirt driveway on your left immediately after the bridge.
