Ice Age Trail Building
Ice Age Trail Mobile Skills Crew Trail Building
The Ice Age Trail does not exist through its beauty and magic alone. It takes a dedicated work force of more than 2,000 volunteers from across the Upper Midwest to build and maintain this space for personal growth.
The Hoofer Outing Club is a part of the this workforce of volunteers. We spend several weekends per year building the trail.
The Ice Age Trail Alliance is a world-renowned trail building organization. The craft of sustainable trail layout, design and construction is at the forefront of its organizational efforts.
Training is provided by certified volunteer crew leaders and all participants get free meals and (for those working multiple days) a free place to pitch a tent.
No experience is necessary. All Abilities are welcome.

Maintaining the Ice Age Trail
In addition to building new segments of the Ice Age Trail, we also maintain existing segments to provide the best trail experience possible. Volunteers from across the state collaborate to complete the day-to-day duties that create such an experience.
The Hoofer Outing Club participates in several half-day trail maintenance events per year.
